Freya de Conde, the current assistant principal at Allentown’s Sheridan Elementary School, has been named the principal of Union Terrace Elementary School. She will assume her new duties on July 1.
A graduate of Allen High School, de Conde has “developed a systematic attendance intervention process aimed at increasing daily attendance,” the district said in a press release.
“I’m excited to just continue in my journey here and work with the students,” de Conde told The Morning Call, saying she’s “very, very excited” to continue to build student support systems.
The new principal began her education career as a Teach for America Corps member in St. Louis. She worked as an English teacher, English department chair and interim assistant principal at Salisbury High School.
She’s also worked at the district level, serving as a network improvement community supervisor of instruction for the Allentown School District.
In addition, de Conde is an adjunct professor at DeSales University. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Immaculata University, a master of secondary education degree from DeSales and a bachelor of arts from the University of Pittsburgh.
