ALLENTOWN, Pa. – It was a bittersweet day at the Lehigh County Courthouse in Allentown.
Ramona the courthouse companion has called it a career.
There was a party in her honor on Friday.
Ramona is a black lab who started working with the district attorney’s office in 2017.
Her job was to help put adults and children at ease as they go through the court process.
We’re told she was very good at it.
But, at 11 years old, Ramona is ready to retire.
“She is going to enjoy spending days at the park, going to see the ducks,” Kimberly Silvestri, victim and witness unit coordinator, said. “That’s her favorite thing to do now.”
Ramona has worked with hundreds of people over the years in her role.
At some point, a new pup will take her place at the courthouse.
