NEWBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — A Midstate park will have an increased police presence amid a recent fight among nearly a dozen juveniles in the area.
The Newberry Township Police Department announced on Facebook that local officers will be taking an “assertive enforcement posture” at the Valley Green Townhome basketball courts in York County due to a recent rise in “active fighting” in the area.
The post says one incident involved a physical altercation between nearly a dozen juveniles, including some who did not reside in the Valley Green Townhome community.

“Unfortunately, similar behavior has led other community associations to restrict or close their recreational spaces entirely due to repeated dangerous conduct,” the post said. “We do not want that for Newberry Township. We are addressing this proactively and expect all parents, guardians, and responsible adults to do the same.”
The township, the post says, will also increase patrol presence and work closely with Valley Green officials to deter future incidents and maintain the safety of their recreational spaces.
“If you are aware of individuals involved in this incident or similar disturbances, we ask for your cooperation in addressing the behavior before it escalates,” the post added.
