The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders split a seven-inning doubleheader with the Rochester Red Wings — winning Game 1, 6-1, and losing Game 2, 9-4 — on Sunday at PNC Field to take the series, 4-2.
The doubleheader made up for Saturday’s postponement because of rain.
After Phillip Glasser gave Rochester (13-14) a 1-0 lead with an RBI in the top of the second, Paul DeJong answered with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to give the RailRiders (14-12) a 2-1 advantage.
Yankees rehabber Anthony Volpe added RBI singles in the third and fifth innings to stretch the lead to 4-1, and Spencer Jones added a two-run homer, as the RailRiders took Game 1, 6-1.
Dom Hamel earned the win, allowing four hits, one run and two walks while striking out four in five innings.
In Game 2, the Red Wings scored the first seven runs before Jasson Dominguez hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth, and Duke Ellis hit a two-run triple in the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-4.
However, Andrew Pinckney put the game away with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh.
Volpe didn’t play in Game 2.
The RailRiders start a six-game series against the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. at PNC Field.
