A logistics company says it will close its Lehigh Valley location, affecting 70 jobs.
A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification was issued for Allen Distribution’s warehouse at 7058 Snowdrift Road in Upper Macungie Township. It is part of the Iron Run Corporate Center, located between Tilghman Street and Interstate 78.
The WARN notice goes into effect Dec. 26. Federal law requires employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a closing or mass layoff.
Representatives from Carlisle, Cumberland County-based Allen Distribution were not immediately available for comment.
It previously was a distribution center for True Value hardware, which moved that part of its operation to Luzerne County in 2019.
Allen purchased the building in 2002 for $23.1 million, according to Lehigh County property records. According to its website, Allen has 14 million square feet of warehouse space at sites in nine states.
A listing on Loopnet says the building is 540,000 square feet with 58 loading docks.
