Amy Learn has learned a lot walking the halls of Brevillier Village. She stated, “When I was a junior in high school, it was my first job as an evening server.”
Thirty years ago, she provided meals to the senior citizen residents living on site and never left. Learn stated, “I loved the culture of this place and wanted to do more.”
And she has. From dining manager to nursing home administrator and vice president, this summer she will become CEO filling the role of Jeff Wieser, who has spent 39 years at Brevillier.
A sprawling campus that opened with Episcopal roots in 1967, CEO Jeff Wieser says, “Catherine Brevillier left this 17‑acre campus to the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Her vision was to provide housing and healthcare for low‑ and middle‑income elderly.”
Over the years, there have been additions and renovations to what is now located off East Lake Road in Harborcreek.
Including rehab space and a nursing home, personal care or assisted living facilities, and independent living—complete with parking.
Resident Victoria Mosbacher said, “It’s a blessing to be able to be here.”
Mosbacher has had many chapters so far since she moved into the village. She oversees the library and is the resident association president in her building on campus.
Residents meet monthly. Birthdays are celebrated. Exercise programs are offered, along with entertainment. Services are offered at two different chapels, and enjoying simple spots to soak in lake views is part of daily life.
Wieser said, “It’s not your home, but we want to make it as homelike as possible.”
It is home for Victoria, who moved to Brevillier six months after her late husband, in need of more care.
Mosbacher stated, “I think being here with the people, with the staff who are so kind and good with the people in all three buildings, it’s remarkable.”
A chance to be honored while living and when the time has come the Brevillier mission: nurturing body, mind, and spirit through dedicated workers like these women whose careers here started as volunteers in junior high.
Part of the more than 200 employees who help families navigate cost and the transition into short‑ or long‑term care. Brevillier also offers a meals program and a home care program for people in need part of its ongoing outreach to others.
