Allentown Health Bureau partners with DEA for drug take-back event | State

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The Allentown Health Bureau teamed up with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration on Saturday and held a prescription drug take-back event.

Special boxes were set up at Redner’s Market on Lehigh Street where people could properly dispose of medications, no questions asked.

“So we set this up because we basically, if anything is expired, we want to make sure that people aren’t diverting and using it for the wrong uses,” Omayra Rosario, of the Allentown Health Bureau, said. 

The event was one of many around the country aimed at preventing prescription drug overdoses.
