On Sunday, the electric city celebrated its 160th birthday at the Everhart Museum in Scranton.
The public event celebrates the incorporation of Scranton as a city on April 23rd, 1866.
Besides celebrating history. The community-wide party features live music, historic exhibits, and activities for the little ones.
“For the whole time of my mayorship, I’ve been thinking about this. OK, it’s really neat. We’re going to have a 160th anniversary. What should we do? It coincides with America 250. So we wanted to do some things that are special this year. This is the beginning of that, doing a party for the community right here at the Everhart seems like a great way to kick off the spring and the summer, celebrate our city and bring folks together,” said Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti.
Today’s birthday celebration began at noon and ended at 3 p.m.
