MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach City Council has approved the first reading to increase towing fees in the city.
Council members said towing companies have requested the increase during a council meeting on Tuesday.
If the ordinance passes a second reading, the fee would rise from $160 to $225 for a standard personal vehicle and from $250 to $500 for Class D vehicles, such as tractor-trailers and garbage trucks.
If approved, it would be the first towing-fee increase since 2012.
In the surrounding area, Conway’s fee for a standard personal vehicle is $251, Horry County’s is $242 and Columbia’s is $251.
