Oak Street Health closing Pittsburgh, Homestead, Wilkinsburg locations

Oak Street Health says it will shut down 16 primary care centers, including three in western Pennsylvania.The Homestead, Pittsburgh and Wilkinsburg locations will be closed by the end of February, according to a statement from Oak Street Health. Its website says it specializes in caring for older adults on Medicare.”The move positions Oak Street Health for sustainable, long-term growth as we continue to navigate external challenges, such as elevated medical costs, CMS risk adjustment model changes, and health plan payer dynamics,” the statement said, in part. “We continue to believe in Oak Street Health and its proven care model to deliver better clinical outcomes for our patients.”The Homestead location on West 8th Avenue opened in March. The other locations are on Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg and at the Crafton Ingram Shopping Center.”Colleagues of closing centers were notified of our initial plans last week and will be considered for other roles within CVS Health where possible,” Oak Street Health said in its statement. “Continued access to care for our patients is also a top priority and we’re focused on ensuring those impacted are transitioned to other Oak Street Health centers nearby or other providers in their area.”
