Site work is well underway for a new 55+ development in Amity Township, Berks County.
Highland Place is an active-adult community being built by Montgomery County-based THP Homes. Located on Scottish Hollow Drive just off Amity Park Road — between Limekiln and Weavertown roads — Highland Place will feature 330 paired villas and single-family homes when it is completed.
Construction will be done in two phases, with the first phase to include 66 homes.
With site work progressing on Scottish Hollow Drive and presales expected to begin in the next few weeks, the developer anticipates the first completed homes by late summer and early fall.
The homes at Highland Place start at approximately 1,500 square feet. Each floor plan emphasizes first-floor living, featuring two to four bedrooms and open-concept layouts, according to an announcement. Kitchens feature islands designed for entertaining and there is flexibility to add a second floor for additional living or storage space.
Among the amenities are a community clubhouse, outdoor swimming pool, pickleball courts, a dog park and walking trails, according to the announcement.
Site work on the development officially began in August, and includes utility work and drainage systems. Curbs are in and roads for part of the first phase have been going in, said a spokeswoman for the developer, who added foundations will follow.

While sales have not yet officially started, THP Homes said it has received more than 120 inquiries, and is inviting potential buyers to join the Highland Place interest list for the development.
A sales center is expected to open on-site in late spring. Those on the list will receive updates on floor plans, pricing and the official grand opening.
Completed models will be available in late summer. In the meantime, AI-generated renderings will be available for potential buyers, the company said in a response to questions.
