Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson has changed his jersey number to 14 ahead of the 2026 season, according to the roster posted at the team’s website and confirmed by Steelers Now.
Wilson had worn No. 10 for his first two professional seasons. The club’s third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Michigan, Wilson is entering his third season with the team.
Wilson missed almost his entire rookie season in 2024 with a series of injuries ankle and hamstring injuries. In 2025, he played in 13 games and made four starts as the Steelers’ No. 3 wide receiver for most of the early part of the season. In 2025, Wilson caught 21 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
The number 14 has been spoken for by two more-veteran players in Wilson’s first two seasons with the Steelers. George Pickens wore No. 14 in 2024, and free agent running back Kenneth Gainwell picked the number when he came to Pittsburgh from the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of the 2025 season. Gainwell ended up being the team’s MVP in 2025, setting career highs with 537 rushing yards, 486 receiving yards and eight total touchdowns.
Wilson wore No. 14 in his first three seasons at Michigan before switching to No. 1 for his senior season in 2023.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS THAT WORE NO. 14
Gainwell was the first running back to wear No. 14 for the Steelers since the modern-era relaxation of the uniform number standards. It has been popular with wide receivers, with Pickens, Ray-Ray McCloud (2020-21), Tevin Jones (2019), Sammie Coates (2016), Derek Moye (2013) and Limas Sweed (2008-09) all wearing the number in recent years.
The most impactful No. 14 in team history was quarterback Neil O’Donnell, who played for the Steelers from 1991-95, leading the Black and Gold to back-to-back AFC Championship Games and Super Bowl XXX.
Bill Nelsen, who spent five years with Pittsburgh in the 1960s before going on to start for the Cleveland Browns, and Todd Blackledge, who backed up for two seasons in the late 1980s, are the other significant quarterbacks to wear the number.
Punters Tom Rouen (2002) and Shayne Edge (1996) also wore No. 14 for the team in recent memory.
