A large emergency response was needed to contain a barn fire in Tilden Township Friday afternoon.
Initial calls about 2:45 p.m. reported a building on fire on Dogwood Road near Salem Church and Fox roads.
Crews arriving on the scene reported flames engulfing a large barn and spreading to surrounding grass. A second alarm was struck, and four additional tankers were called in.
No information was available on injuries or the fate of any animals that might have been in the barn.
Crews from Schuylkill County assisted.
Crews ran multiple lines and contained the fire to the barn in about 15 minutes.
The fire was placed under control about 3:30, followed by an extensive search for remaining hot spots.
