A drive‑by shooting that killed a teenager in 2024 has now led to a life sentence for the man responsible.
Jamarion Boone was sentenced to 53 years to life in prison on April 27 for the first‑degree murder of juvenile Armoni Cantu and the attempted murder of a second juvenile. The sentence was handed down by Judge Trucilla.
The charges stem from a drive‑by shooting on Dec. 17, 2024, at the corner of 31st Street and Liberty Street, where Boone opened fire on a group of teenagers. Investigators said neither victim is believed to have been the intended target.
Court records show Boone had been riding in a vehicle that drove through the city searching for the group before the shooting occurred.
Following the attack, Boone posted a rap video online in which prosecutors said he taunted the victim’s family and bragged about the shooting. Boone also has a prior criminal history, including convictions for armed robbery and burglary.
