Just a few months after it closed in Allentown, a Lehigh Valley brewery has returned with a new location.
HiJinx Brewing Co. reopened Friday 1 in the former social hall of the Tatamy Fire Co. at 164 Bushkill St. in Tatamy. A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, in time for Lehigh Valley Beer Week’s “opening tap.”
The brewery held preview events over the last month and will offer beer and space for banquets and private events, live music, and activities like cornhole and karaoke.
“It’s great. We’re very happy to be in this location,” owner Curt Keck said. “The response from the neighborhood and the community has been wonderful. The borough of Tatamy has been great to deal with. It was a good change for us.”
When asked about potential plans such as additional HiJinx locations, he added, “I think we’re going to let the market dictate what we do next.”
HiJinx operated at 905 Harrison St. in Allentown from 2014 until it closed in December. Keck previously said the Allentown location suffered from a lack of foot traffic, and that the new spot’s smaller size can accommodate a decline in alcohol consumption. The new location also will have outdoor space for customers “as quick as possible,” and improved parking.
“I think that it gives me the ability to be more adaptable to what people are drinking and what people are interested in,” Keck said.
The Tatamy location’s hours are 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4-11 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Keck said. They are subject to change.
