Children with disabilities in Lackawanna County experienced the thrill of driving adapted cars for the first time at University of Scranton’s “Go Baby Go” event.

SCRANTON, Pa. — On Sunday in Lackawanna County, children with disabilities had their first chance to drive, thanks to the “Go Baby Go” program at the University of Scranton.

The university held the event at the Byron recreational complex, giving students the opportunity to showcase their modified cars.

The toy cars were adapted to meet the unique mobility needs of 10 local children with various disabilities.

One recipient was 10-year-old Dylan, who lives with both autism and a rare genetic disorder known as ‘Williams syndrome.’

“You can see the joy in his face, he’s just a very happy kid, very happy-go-lucky, and yeah, he wants to be on the go, as you can tell,” said Amy Johnson from Moscow.

The family-friendly event kicked off at noon and wrapped up at 4 p.m.
