Police said Tuesday that the stabbing in Drexel Hill was a mother assaulted and killed by her son.
Police were alerted to the 4600 block of State Road about 4:30 Monday afternoon. They didn’t say how, but police radio traffic showed that someone either in the house or looking into it spotted the victim on the floor.
Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said there appeared to be a domestic incident, and the son picked up a knife and stabbed his mother.
The son was in custody, Bernhardt said. Radio traffic indicated he was stopped by police in Springfield later that afternoon and taken into custody without incident.
