A Pittston man is facing a felony fleeing charge after police say he sped away from a traffic stop last month.

David William Nelson, 54, is accused of fleeing the traffic stop in the 4100 block of North Township Boulevard on the night of April 8.

According to state police, Nelson was driving a Dodge Nitro when he fled police in the vehicle, which he subsequently abandoned when he ran off on foot.

Nelson was arrested April 20 following an investigation, troopers said.

He is charged with a felony count of fleeing and eluding along with multiple summary traffic violations.

Nelson remains free on his own recognizance pending trial.
