Erie police have determined a driver who was seen in the area of a hit-and-run crash that killed a 2-year-old in southeast Erie in February was not involved in the crash.
Investigators identified the driver of a white Cadillac Escalade after asking for the community’s help in April, according to Amber Luttrell, an Erie police spokesperson. Police interviewed the driver and determined they were not involved.
Police continue to investigate another person of interest, which could take several weeks, Luttrell said. The department is still waiting to receive crime lab testing results.
Anyone with information related to the case can contact 303-441-4444. Even the smallest detail could help investigators, Luttrell said.
The toddler was hit around 4:40 p.m. Feb. 15 east of Mountain View Boulevard and north of Village Vista Drive, according to an Erie Police Department social media post at the time. A motorist saw the 2-year-old lying in the road, stopped and called police, according to Luttrell. The driver of the vehicle that struck the toddler had left the scene, police say.
