Two people have died following a multiple vehicle crash that sent a car over an interchange at a Pittsburgh bridge, officials said. Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando and public safety officials said first responders were called to the Fort Duquesne Bridge ramp at the Route 65 and Route 28 split on Pittsburgh’s North Shore following reports of a collision. Five vehicles were involved in the crash, with one of those vehicles going over and off the interchange near the Fort Duquesne Bridge onto Reedsdale Street. The male driver in the car that plunged over the rail was killed, while emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to free another person in a car on the bridge.That person, a woman, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Public safety officials said several others were evaluated by EMS on scene. All refused to be transported to the hospital. All others involved in the crash were able to walk away unharmed. Pittsburgh Public Safety is calling it a ‘very serious crash.’An investigation is now underway. Two people have died following a multiple vehicle crash that sent a car over an interchange at a Pittsburgh bridge, officials said.

Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando and public safety officials said first responders were called to the Fort Duquesne Bridge ramp at the Route 65 and Route 28 split on Pittsburgh’s North Shore following reports of a collision.

Five vehicles were involved in the crash, with one of those vehicles going over and off the interchange near the Fort Duquesne Bridge onto Reedsdale Street.

The male driver in the car that plunged over the rail was killed, while emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to free another person in a car on the bridge.

That person, a woman, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Public safety officials said several others were evaluated by EMS on scene. All refused to be transported to the hospital.

All others involved in the crash were able to walk away unharmed. Pittsburgh Public Safety is calling it a ‘very serious crash.’

An investigation is now underway.
