READING, Ohio (WXIX) – Reading Police Chief Bryan Edens is on leave amid an outside investigation, city officials announced on social media.
“Effective May 6, the Mayor has placed the city’s Police Chief on Administrative Leave pending the results of an external investigation,” the city’s Facebook page states.
“As with all personnel matters, we will have no further comment while there is an active investigation ongoing.
“Lieutenant Daniel Flottemesch has been named interim chief of the department until further notice.”
State records show Edens has been with Reading police since 2020, and he’s also worked for Elmwood Place police.
He was sworn in as Reading’s police chief in April 2020, the city announced at the time.
Edens has been a law enforcement officer for more than 30 years, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
FOX19 NOW reached out to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office for comment.
