The Philadelphia Zoo is looking ahead in a big way — while staying rooted in its long‑standing mission to inspire and protect wildlife. The Zoo has officially announced the public launch of “Remember the Future: The Campaign for Philadelphia Zoo,” a five‑year, $85 million fundraising effort designed to support conservation, education, animal care, and the overall guest experience.

This marks the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the Zoo’s 150+ year history, with a goal to help shape what the Zoo of the future looks like — one that responds to growing global challenges like biodiversity loss and habitat destruction, while continuing to connect visitors with animals in meaningful ways.

The campaign already has strong momentum. So far, $65 million has been raised, supporting major initiatives like Francis J. Carey Bear Country, Hollenstein Ross Penguin Point, expanded research and education programs, and the creation of an animal care endowment. The goal now is to reach the full $85 million target by 2028.

“This is our bold commitment to conservation research, animal care, education and the community,” said Philadelphia Zoo President & CEO Dr. Jo‑Elle Mogerman, emphasizing how critical the Zoo’s work is not just locally, but globally. The campaign is focused on ensuring the Zoo can continue to evolve, innovate, and remain a leader in conservation.

At its core, the campaign is built around four key pillars:

Saving Species Together by building a global network of researchers and conservation leadersChampioning Amazing Animals by advancing animal health and careCreating Transformative Experiences that deepen the connection between people and wildlifeInnovating Learning and Community Engagement to inspire future generations

To celebrate the public launch, the Zoo is inviting the community to take part in two special launch party days on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9. These all‑day events will feature wildlife chats, animal feedings, mascot appearances, a “Get Wild” dance party, a Teddy Bear Clinic run by the veterinary team, giveaways, and more — all designed to engage guests while raising awareness and funds for the campaign.

The Zoo is also aiming to raise an additional $75,000 during this two‑day kickoff, with donation incentives available at every level, including raffle entries, Zoo merchandise, and even a chance to win unique artwork created by one of the Zoo’s animals.

As a nonprofit organization, the Zoo relies heavily on community and philanthropic support to continue its work. Campaign leaders emphasize that every contribution helps fuel progress — from enhancing animal habitats to expanding educational opportunities and advancing conservation efforts worldwide.

For visitors, the “Remember the Future” campaign is more than just a fundraising effort — it’s a reminder of the role the Philadelphia Zoo plays as an urban oasis where people and animals thrive, and as a place where curiosity, learning, and connection come to life.

If you’re planning a visit this spring, the launch weekend offers a unique opportunity to experience the Zoo while being part of something bigger — helping ensure that wildlife and wonder continue for generations to come.
