Special Mass in Scranton Honors Mothers by Choice on Mother’s Day

Nearly every pew was filled for the annual “Mother’s Day Adoption Mass” at Saint Peter’s Cathedral along Wyoming Avenue in Lackawanna County.

The Diocese of Scranton holds a special Mass every Mother’s Day to recognize all moms, especially those who are not mothers by blood but by choice.

“We pray to the lord. That all we have loved in this life, but no longer see, especially our deceased mothers, may live forever with God and Christ.”

Today’s mass began at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton.
