A Trenton police officer was involved in a crash Monday in Philadelphia following a police chase, according to sources.
It happened just after 11:15 a.m. at Torresdale Road and Sheffield Avenue in the city’s Holmesburg section.
The chase began in Trenton, New Jersey, and crossed state lines into Pennsylvania. The chase went down Interstate 95 before ending with the crash just a few blocks off the highway.
The car that was being chased was able to get away, sources say.
According to police, the incident started with a motor vehicle stop linked to a weapons investigation.
Chopper 6 was over the scene, where the officer’s vehicle could be seen stopped on a residential property after apparently crashing through a fence.
A New Jersey State trooper was involved in a crash Monday in Philadelphia following a police chase, according to officials.
A damaged white SUV, which was not believed to be involved in the chase, could also be seen on the street.
The officer and a person in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Action News has learned the officer involved in the case was working with a New Jersey state police task force.
