HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Shapiro Administration released a fact sheet detailing how nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians will lose SNAP benefits starting Nov. 1 due to the ongoing government shutdown.

This includes more than 713,000 children and 697,000 older adults that could lose access to more than $366 million in monthly food assistance, according to officials.

Nearly one in eight Pennsylvanians depends on SNAP, which provides critical food assistance to low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities, the press release details.

Officials say that the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and Department of Agriculture are coordinating with local food banks and community organizations to prepare for the potential disruption in benefits.
