Hornell museum to mark Erie Railroad’s 175th, a president’s visit
The Hornell Erie Depot Museum plans to host an Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 16 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Erie Railroad’s first through train from the Hudson to Lake Erie, according to a community announcement.
The event will take place at 111 Loder St. in Hornell and is free to the public. Visitors can enjoy cake and refreshments as part of the celebration.
The milestone marks the journey when the inaugural Erie Railroad train stopped in Hornellsville, carrying then-President Millard Fillmore aboard.
