CUMRU TWP., Pa. – An annual event this weekend is all about rolling the dice for a good cause – bringing games, prizes, and community support under one roof.

The Rotary Club of Spring Township will hold the event on Saturday, May 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the BarnHouse Bar & Venue on 31 Hickory Road. Guests will get $2,000 in casino chips to play blackjack, poker, roulette, craps, slots, and more, according to the Rotary Club’s website.
Attendees will be able to get heavy appetizers, beer, wine, and soda, the website says. The event will also feature live music by Vince Rollins, DJ Victor Soto, raffles, and a chance to win, prizes, including a Toyota Tacoma from Performance Toyota(2-year lease).

The event’s proceeds will benefit New Journey Community Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit in Reading that provides food and clothing to needy families.

Rotary Club of Spring Township President Thomas McDonald said the event raises money for the other organizations the club helps finance as well as for scholarships for children.
Hannah’s Hope and Second Harvest Food Bank are among the organizations that benefit, McDonald said.

Dianne Rollins with the Rotary Club said the casino night is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year. She said the Reading nonprofit that will benefit from the event feeds about 400 people a day.
The event also benefits the Veterans Coalition of Pennsylvania.
Mike Weil, Director of Operations for the Veterans Coalition of Pennsylvania, said his organization provides volunteers, raffle prizes, and drinks for the event.
BarnHouse Bar & Venue co-owner Lazaro Pepen said the event is a great opportunity for him and his family to share the venue with the community.
Co-owner Michael Pepen said the Rotary Club has done a “beautiful job” setting up the fundraiser and was excited for the fundraiser to be the venue’s first public event.
“I think it’s going to be a very fun night,” he said.
