The 78th annual Berks County Armed Forces Day Parade will be held Saturday in West Reading and Wyomissing. The parade honors all branches of the military, and this year will highlight the 250th anniversary of the nation. The parade along Penn Avenue will start rain or shine at 10 a.m. in the 800 block of Penn and end at Fourth Avenue.

Longwood Gardens’ Festival of Fountains season has begun and continues through Sept. 27 with horticultural displays, illuminated fountains and concerts. Fountain Fest Weekends begin this weekend with displays set to music by the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and David Bowie Friday through Sunday.

Shaun the Sheep exhibit

“Shaun the Sheep: Flock This Way!,” an interactive exhibit based on the popular film and television character, opens Saturday and runs through Sept. 6 at the Reading Public Museum. ‘The Black Clown’

Opera Philadelphia is presenting ”The Black Clown,” a work based on the poetry of Langston Hughes, a defining voice in jazz poetry and a central figure during the Harlem Renaissance. ‘Art in Sacred Spaces’
The Souderton-Telford Historical Society presents the “Art in Sacred Spaces” tour on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. in the two communities. The itinerary includes six area churches and an opportunity to view artifacts from the Mennonite Heritage Center. Guides will be at each site, and some will have music and light refreshments.
