(WHTM ) – Is Buc-ee’s planning to open its first-ever Pennsylvania location?
The popular travel center has become a destination and social media sensation for drivers looking to rest on a long road trip.
The company currently has dozens of locations across 12 states, primarily in the south. However, the company has announced plans to expand into Ohio, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
Recently, a letter on social media appeared to show the company reaching out to the Plainfield Township, Northampton County, planning board regarding a potential travel center site.
However, in an email to abc27, Township Manager Paige Stefanelli says the letter circulating on social media is fake, and the township has received correspondence from Buc-ee’s.
“We have received an enormous amount of calls/emails regarding this matter,” Stefanelli said. “I believe someone is just simply stirring the pot. At least we all got a good laugh!”
abc27 reached out to a Buc-ee’s spokesperson to see if they have any plans to open a location in Northampton County or anywhere else in the Keystone State in the near future.
The spokesperson replied, “No comment.”
Currently, the closest Buc-ee’s location to Pennsylvania is in Mt. Crawford, Virginia, about 120 miles south of the Pennsylvania border.
