Brandon Beck pitched 5.2 innings of one-hit ball and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders converted a six-run fourth inning into a 7-0 win over the Syracuse Mets on Thursday in a STEM school day game at PNC Field in Moosic.

Beck, the New York Yankees No. 21 prospect, allowed a first-inning base on balls and then the only other baserunner he allowed was a single from Christian Arroyo in the fourth inning. Beck tied a career-high nine strikeouts on 80 pitches.

SWB got on the board early in the first inning when Marco Luciano doubled and Oswaldo Cabrera singled him home for a 1-0 advantage.

The RailRiders pushed the lead to 3-0 lead in the fourth after three consecutive singles loaded the bases with nobody out and Jonathan Ornelas knocked in a pair with a hit and Duke Ellis reached on a fielder’s choice to load them again. Then, Kenedy Corona’s grand slam to left centerfield — his first as a RailRider — highlighted the fourth-inning outburst and made it 7-0.
