Reading officials are reminding businesses in the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone, or CRIZ, that they must submit an annual report by June 15.
The reports detailing certain state and local taxes paid during the 2025 tax year must be filed with the city and state Department of Revenue.
The process is used to gather information only, officials stressed.
The CRIZ authority has partnered with an accounting firm to help businesses complete the required reports at no cost.
Businesses are not required to use the free accounting service and may instead complete the report independently by following instructions available on the city’s CRIZ webpage.
Mayor Eddie Moran is encouraging businesses to take advantage of the available assistance and complete the reporting process on time.
“CRIZ continues to play an important role in supporting investment and economic growth in our city,” the mayor said in a statement. “We want to make this process as easy as possible for our business community, and I encourage all eligible businesses to complete their reporting requirements before the deadline.”
Failure to submit the report by the deadline will result in a noncompliance penalty, CRIZ officials said.
Businesses can schedule appointments for assistance by emailing CRIZ@readingpa.gov or calling 610-655-6286.
Additional information and reporting instructions are available on the city’s CRIZ webpage at readingpa.gov/c-r-i-z-business-reporting.
