SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A Scranton man will spend the next two decades in federal prison after admitting to major drug trafficking and firearms offenses in Lackawanna County.

Jimmy Bell, 33, was sentenced Wednesday to 240 months behind bars after previously pleading guilty to multiple federal charges tied to methamphetamine distribution and illegal firearm possession.

According to prosecutors, Bell was involved in a conspiracy to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana in northeastern Pennsylvania beginning in 2023.

Federal authorities say the investigation uncovered more than two kilograms of methamphetamine and nearly four kilograms of marijuana connected to the operation.

Investigators also said Bell, who was prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior felony convictions, had multiple guns with obliterated serial numbers, including a rifle and a handgun, along with ammunition.

The case was investigated by the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office.

Federal officials said the prosecution was part of a broader nationwide initiative targeting drug trafficking and violent crime.
