Sinkhole shuts down part of North Main Avenue in Scranton

Part of a busy road in Scranton is closed as crews work to repair a sinkhole.

Officials say the hole along North Main Avenue, which was initially caused by a water main break, was temporarily repaired in early April.

Now, North Main Avenue will be closed between Green Ridge Street and Clearview Street from Thursday morning through Friday evening as crews put a permanent fix in place.

Flaggers south of the closure will direct trucks and passenger vehicles to Providence Road and the Biden Expressway, while those on the north side will be directed onto West Market Street.
