The Erie VA Medical Center celebrated an important milestone on Thursday.

The medical center was dedicated in 1951. Thursday, staff, veterans and community partners came together to celebrate 75 years of making a difference for those who served our country.

Awards and recognitions given to the center were presented, followed by a special ceremony where those in attendance had the chance to make history by signing a metal beam being installed inside a new expansion on campus.

“Our mission is simple. We put veterans first in everything we do. Over the years, we’ve earned top trust scores in all VA for the work that our staff do. In 2022 and 2025, we were honored to receive the VA Best Experience Award across all of our health care systems,” said John Gennaro, the director of the Erie VA Medical Center.

The VA center addition is scheduled to be finished by this summer.
