BETHLEHEM, Pa. – America’s 250th birthday is getting a cheers-worthy celebration in Bethlehem this weekend.
69 News Reporter Sydney Kay has a preview of a new museum exhibit in its honor.
The National Museum of Industrial History is holding an opening celebration for the exhibit Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’ll feature displays, demonstrations, beer tastings, food, and music.
Cheers to 250: Brewing in America ” invites visitors to raise a glass to the rich and revolutionary history of beer in the United States,” according to the museum’s website.
The museum says the exhibition shows how beer has been shaped by and has helped shape American society.
Andria Zaia, Executive Director and CEO of Bethlehem’s National Museum of Industrial History, said the food and beverage industry is a big economic driver across the country.
She said it took about three years to put the exhibit together. A lot of planning, design, and research went into the process, she said.
The exhibit features a significant number of Yuengling artifacts. Yuengling, which is based in Pottsville, is the country’s oldest operating brewery.
She said she is proud of how the community has come together and the exceptional work of the museum’s team.
Emily Marchello, the museum’s Manager of Collections and Exhibitions, said one of the exhibits shows guests how the early brewing process helped immigrants and colonists survive in the country’s early days.
Manager of Marketing and Communication Anthony Lopez said he traveled to breweries across the state to do research on brewing processes and how they handle cleaning and sanitation.
