The Reading Police Department’s desk sergeant and dispatch center will be temporarily relocated, city officials announced Thursday.
The two operations will be moved to the Berks County Courthouse beginning May 18 at 7 a.m. due to ongoing renovations at City Hall.
Public entry will be available from the Sixth Street side of the courthouse.
The temporary location is expected to remain in effect until June 12 at 3 p.m.
Officials said services may return sooner if work at City Hall is completed ahead of schedule.
During this temporary transition, officials said:
• The public service window phone and all City Hall door intercoms will continue to connect directly with police personnel at the courthouse.
• In-person police services normally handled at City Hall will temporarily operate from the Berks County Courthouse.
• Residents are encouraged to call for service whenever possible, as in-person services will be limited during the relocation period.
• Self-service forms will be available at both the courthouse and City Hall.
