How they got here: Lake-Lehman defeated No. 5 seed Montrose, 3-1 (25-15, 25-8, 20-25, 25-22) and upset top-seeded Blue Ridge, 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19). Holy Redeemer defeated No. 7 seed Lakeland, 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-7) and beat No. 6 seed Western Wayne, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-18).

Up next: The winner of the match advances to the PIAA Class 2A first round and will play the District 4 champion on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Noteworthy: Holy Redeemer has won 18 District 2 Class 2A championships. The Royals are ranked No. 9 in the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class 2A poll. Holy Redeemer edged Lake-Lehman, 3-2, in the Wyoming Valley Conference regular season. Boylan had 31 kills, and Parsons had 19 in the win by the Royals.

2-ABINGTON HEIGHTS (22-0) VS. 1-BERWICK (17-1)

When: Thursday, 30 minutes after the Class 2A match.

Where: Wilkes University.

How they got here: Abington Heights defeated No. 7 seed Nanticoke Area, 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-15) and beat No. 3 seed Crestwood, 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 16-25, 25-13). Berwick beat No. 8 Valley View, 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-13) and beat No. 5 seed Dallas, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16).

Up next: The winner of the match advances to the PIAA Class 2A first round and will play the District 4 champion on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Noteworthy: Berwick is the defending District 2 Class 3A champion. This is a battle of conference champions. Berwick won the Wyoming Valley Conference title, and Abington Heights captured the Lackawanna League title. Abington Heights is 5-0 against teams from the WVC this season.
