Nice weather provided a favorable backdrop Saturday for the NEPA Armed Forces Day Parade in downtown Scranton. The parade was part of a multiday celebration that also included the Heroes of All Kinds 5K Run/Walk, the annual Armed Forces Day Luncheon and a free downtown after-parade concert filled with live music, patriotism and community spirit. Proceeds from the event benefit veterans and first responders throughout Northeast Pennsylvania. The parade began at the Gino Merli Veterans Center at Penn Avenue and Mulberry Street and ended at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square. For a full account, see Page A3.
