Pennsylvania State Police have released new information about a standoff in Warren County that ended in an officer-involved shooting.
According to State Police, troopers were attempting to serve a felony warrant at a home in Freehold Township, near Bill Irvine’s Garage off Route 958, close to Wrightsville and Pittsfield. Witnesses said the incident began around 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Sources tell Erie News Now, the suspect had allegedly been making threats toward family members, though that information has not been officially confirmed by investigators.
Traffic in and out of the area was shut down for safety as law enforcement worked to resolve the situation.
State Police said the suspect pointed a rifle at troopers, who then opened fire. The suspect was hit and later died from his injuries.
No troopers were injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
