A First Alert has been issued for the Philadelphia region for Thursday, Oct. 30 as strong storms are expected to bring heavy rain and intense winds.

The threat includes heavy downpours over the morning commute with wind gusts up to 50 m.p.h. at the Jersey Shore and a chance for an isolated severe thunderstorm.

The best chance for strong storms is late morning until 1 p.m.

One to two inches of rain is possible across the region with the heaviest amounts closer to Chester, Berks and Lehigh counties.

Clearing will happen around the evening commute but wind speeds stay strong into Friday for Halloween.

The First Alert is scheduled to remain in effect until 4 p.m.
