BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – The fifth annual Eddiefest took place on Commerce Street, featuring heavy metal music and fundraising for kidney disease.
Inside the Clover Club, collections of skulls, vinyl records and B-horror movies from Sevrin Films filled the room.
The event helps fundraise for kidney disease, with a portion of proceeds from tickets and vendors going to the American Kidney Fund.
Organizers say raising awareness of kidney disease is what makes Eddiefest important.
“One in five people have it and not many people know that and it’s tough and it’s very debilitating and the medical cost associated with it, so it’s just our way of trying to raise awareness about it,” said Tracy Byrd, organizer.
The bands who performed this year ranged from local favorites to metal artists from Pennsylvania, with Horrorwood Ending and Red Letter Philosophy taking the stage.
