NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – A new family-run business, with an ownership team possessing more than 80 years of equine experience, invites you to “step away from the noise” and enjoy guided, hour-long horseback riding experiences across 50 acres of scenic farmland and plateau trails in the Lehigh Valley.
Flying Spur Trail Rides, offering guided horseback experiences on scenic trails, held its grand opening on Saturday at 5466 Route 145 in the Laurys Station section of North Whitehall Township.
Flying Spur “combines safety, education, and accessibility for riders of all ages,” according to a news release.
Guests ride in small groups of up to 8 through rolling meadows, wooded trails and along one of the highest plateaus in the Lehigh Valley.
“Spending time with horses has a way of bringing a sense of calm you don’t always find day to day,” said Robert Shoemaker, owner of Flying Spur. “We wanted to create a place where people can step away from the noise, feel comfortable, and just enjoy being present in the moment.”
Flying Spur creates a safe and approachable environment for riders of all skill levels.
Each ride is led by at least two trained guides, with helmets provided and recommended (required for those 18 and under).
Each rider is thoughtfully matched with a horse based on age, size and experience level. Horses range from gentle draft horses to smaller ponies, making the experience accessible to a wide range of riders.

Upon arrival, guests check in, sign waivers, get fitted for helmets, and board a complimentary 5-minute shuttle to the farm.
At the barn, guests meet their horses while an attendant goes over safety tips and basic instructions before mounting and heading out to the trails.
