Erie parole agents receive body-worn cameras as part of statewide program

The Erie Parole District Office will serve as the state’s initial pilot location to equip its agents with new technology.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, the state plans to begin the phased rollout of body-worn cameras in June.

Officials said it’s to support officers and public safety, strengthen accountability and transparency and provide agents with reliable technology to assist with field operations and evidentiary documentation.

The department will evaluate network capability and system performance, and plans to expand to three additional district offices.
