A man was taken to the hospital after officials said he sustained serious burns after coming into contact with live power lines while working on the roof of a home in Pittsburgh’s Greenfield neighborhood on Monday. The contact ultimately led to a fire sparking inside the home, officials stated. One juvenile was inside the home at the time and was safely escorted outside. Police said Duquesne Light was called to shut off power to the home, and one of the men on the roof was later rescued by firefighters. Sky 4, Pittsburgh’s only news chopper, was over the scene as the man was rescued by officials. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition after sustaining burns to the right side of his body. It did not appear that the other person working on the roof needed to be rescued or was injured. Officials said the fire was put out around 4:45 p.m. The fire investigation unit is now working to determine the cause.
