PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Another primary election sees incumbent State Senator Marty Flynn and his opponent, Jeffrey Lake, making the rounds at polling sites across Lackawanna County.

“Kept everything positive, ran a good race. I’m running on my record, you know how I’ve delivered for the people of Northeast PA,” said Sen. Marty Flynn (D), 22nd District.

“The momentum behind my campaign has been growing every single day. Specifically after the debate. I’m feeling really good about today. The voter feedback that has been coming through the door has been fantastic,” said Jeffrey Lake, (D) 22nd District Candidate.

But a few days earlier, a man took to social media, threatening Flynn’s life.

According to police paperwork, Jimmy Goble, 35, of Dunmore, posted several times to Facebook calling out Flynn and a local business owner.

Investigators say in one of the posts, Goble stated, “The moment I become homeless and I will kill them both.”

“Some people have a false sense of reality, and you know, when there’s mental health issues, which is the case here, you know, I hope he gets the help he needs,” said Sen. Flynn.

Lake is running against Flynn for the Democratic nomination in the 22nd District.

He spoke out against the violence, saying it has no place in politics or anywhere at all. “I condemn any type of violence. It’s never the answer. Regardless of differences in politics or disagreements on policy. It’s never the answer.”

According to the affidavit, Goble had been investigated before by Dunmore police due to “erratic behavior” after being let go from an area business.

Goble faces several counts of terroristic threats and harassment. His next court appearance has not yet been set.
