Thousands gather in Jessup for Saint Ubaldo Day’s “Race of the Saints,” celebrating over a century of tradition and community.

JESSUP, Pa. — This Saturday one of Jessup’s most beloved traditions takes place.  It’s Saint Ubaldo Day, with the highlight being the Race of the Saints.

The tradition started in Jessup in 1909 and the festival honors Saint Ubaldo, the patron saint of Gubbio, Italy. Each year, thousands of people gather for the “Running of the Saints” (La Corsa dei Ceri)  when teams of runners carry 800-pound statues representing Saint Ubaldo, Saint Giorgio, and Saint Antonio through the streets of Jessup.

By tradition, Saint Ubaldo always wins. Also happening is the Jessup Hose Company No. 2 Annual Carnival, featuring amusement rides, games, food, and family-friendly fun.

The event starts at 5:30 in Jessup.
