Market House project stalled, awaiting city council approval

Plans to build a multi-million dollar market house on Erie’s bayfront suffered a significant setback at Wednesday night’s Erie City Council meeting.

Council rejected a resolution asking for approval of a waterfront conditional use requested by the Erie County Convention Center Authority.

That resolution would have allowed for construction of a new two-story building near the former GAF site.

The vote was 4-2 against, for now stalling the project that requires council approval.

According to Erie City Councilman Ed Brzezinski, the authority has 30 days to appeal, but no decision has been made.
