ALLENTOWN, LEHIGH COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Ernesto Martinez Jr. clobbers his eighth home run of the season to cap off a five-run third inning for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders on Thursday, leading to an 8-7 win over the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Martinez was one of four Railriders with multi-hit evenings, including Yanquiel Fernandez who went 3-4 at the plate, including a solo home run, his 12th of the year.
Dom Hamel started for SWB, pitching 4.2 innings, striking out six Lehigh Valley batters, but allowing six hits and five runs. Kervin Castro earned the win in relief, and Bradley Hanner picked up his second save of the season.
The Railriders improve to 25-21 this year. First pitch tomorrow night against the Iron Pigs is 6:45PM.
