A Berks County Intermediate Unit administrator has been honored with a statewide award.

Dr. Michelle Reichard-Huff, director of the office of early childhood and student services, has been named the 2026 Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units Ambassador Award recipient. She was recognized at the PAIU Annual Conference in Hershey on Thursday.

The award is a statewide honor celebrating individuals who exemplify exceptional dedication to advancing the mission and impact of Pennsylvania’s intermediate units through advocacy, leadership and service.

Reichard-Huff was chosen for her commitment to championing intermediate unit programs and services that support students, families, educators and school communities across Berks and the state.

In her role at the BCIU, she leads more than 500 staff members who deliver early childhood education, special education, alternative education and comprehensive student services.

“Dr. Reichard-Huff does not simply advocate for intermediate units in name, she advances their mission through action,” Dr. Jill Hackman, BCIU executive director, said in an announcement. “Her ability to elevate programs, amplify staff voice and communicate the value of IUs to policymakers and the public makes her an influential and trusted ambassador for intermediate units across Pennsylvania.”
