Earlier this week, one of the best local prep hockey players in recent years finalized his decision to continue his playing career to the next level of the sport.
Recent Riverview Gabriel Richard graduate Connor Forster has formally signed to play for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights come next season.
A former three-time first-team all-News-Herald honoree, Forster has been a key centerpiece for the Richard hockey program throughout his prep career.
A four-year varsity player, Forster has played in over 100 regular season and state playoff games for the Pioneers. In that time, he compiled 89 career points. That includes a 12-goal, 15-assist senior season in which Richard was once again regarded as one of the top programs in Division 3.
Formed in 2007, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are a junior developmental program that competes in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). The Knights offer teams in multiple divisions of the USPHL for those ages 16-20 in an effort to groom players for the collegiate and professional levels.
